Well, today is Sunday so I’m going to give you a little spiritual medicine. It goes down easy though. Promise.
Woody Allen interviews Billy Graham here sometime in 1969. It really is an interesting and delightful interview as they both seem to genuinely enjoy themselves. Woody appears a bit uneasy at first but then Graham’s disarming personality sets him at ease. Graham never did carry the personality or scandal baggage that many well known preachers had over the years. [continue reading…]
Been trying to get back into running lately and as you know, it can be hard without some good music to keep you going. So the other night I pulled up a record on my iphone I haven’t listened to in ages: Black Sabbath Vol 4.
All I can say is… Wow. Everyday for weeks I would come home from 8th grade and listen to this record. I can see why. It rocks. Ridiculously. Yes it’s much about drugs. Yes it has some cheesers and clunkers on there (Changes, FX) but the standout tracks are masterpieces of riff-rock mayhem. [continue reading…]
This is why people hate politicians and don’t trust them. This is why people think they ALL lie. Watch this:
He calls himself a ‘Southside Kid’ but can’t name a single player? I’m sorry that is just pathetic. Pathetic because he’s obviously lying and he got busted and tried to stammer his way out of it. [continue reading…]
Yep. That’s right. I’m changing my ways. Oh yes, you will still get the occasional well reasoned, intellectualized, uber-brilliant post (in my own mind anyway), but I’m realizing I lag too much when I overthink writing a ‘perfect’ post. From now on I will force myself to write more often. Throw caution to the wind and just converse with the ether. As well as you blessed subcribers. And drive by visitors. We welcome all types ’round here.
Much of the reason for my absence though, has been both the mixing/mastering of my band ‘The Tall Ships” new record and then preparation for a show at San Diego’s famed Casbah club. Yes, music, music, music. It’s rough I know. But it saps the writer in me. Sucks the ink from my pen and makes me write lame cliches. So that is why I have turned over a new leaf and decided to write more. Less, but more. After all, less is more. More or less. [continue reading…]
I’m feeling all self-helpish and instructional today so here you go…
Statistics show a huge percentage of college graduates end up in a career that has little or nothing to do with their degree. I admit, even I only do occasional freelance work associated with my degree. So what’s the point then? Why go?
So I got this DVD burner for Christmas that allows me to transfer VHS to DVD. Finally. I’ve been wanting to do this forever. I have a lot of VHS tapes taking up precious shelf space in my living room that need to go in boxes and put in the back of the shed. Dryve footage included. Here is some.
This is from a show we did in Nashville at the GMA convention. I think. What a trip it was to watch this since I haven’t seen it in about 500 years. [continue reading…]
UPDATE: I regret to inform whomever might read this I can no longer support or endorse these guys. Jack Conte and his company Patreon have proven to be bigoted and prejudiced against people who do not align with their own political ideology. They have become anti-free speech. Very sad but very true. Disregard them until further notice.
In today’s information overloaded and media saturated environment I find myself having little to no expectation for anything surprising me. And definitely not anything exciting me or moving me. How could there be anything? It’s all been done. And done. And done. And overdone.
A few weeks ago I was invited to a friend’s birthday party at a fine Thai restaurant. I knew no one except the birthday boy and my wife as we sat down at a table of about 18 people. Directly across from me sat a girl whom I vaguely recognized. As she introduced her self and we shook hands I meekly said to her, “Hi I’m Keith and um, well I think we are actually friends. You know, on Facebook…”
It was a funny –awkward -but funny moment as we all realized we were experiencing a strange side of the new paradigm of social relations.
Perhaps more and more people will find Mobile Broadband and computers come with instruction manuals for the social networks they open doors to. It is a tricky universe to navigate. Ten years ago we didn’t have to worry about our Facebook vs. Real Life behavior. Now we do. So yeah… kind of awkward…
Sort of a ‘We are ‘friends’ but you don’t know it and I do but don’t feel embarrassed because I knew we were friends and you didn’t because since we are only virtual friends it’s not like we are really friends and I should feel slighted and you embarrassed.’ Right?
